HEX 0615 - Abnormal Murder Ape Caves


Suitable for a party of lvl 1-2 characters.
This caves are the target of The Farmers Children quest.

1.  
The entrance to the cave is a small hole in the middle of a slope, just big enough for one person to come through at the time. Three apes are hiding in the forest and will attack when someone is entering the cave, trying to push the intruder towards the pit trap on the other side of the small tunnel. The pit trap is a simple pit with sharpened sticks, 1D4 damage. It's easy to spot unless you're distracted fighting or fleeing.

2.  
Empty room, just some old bones on the floor.


3. 
The apes have sealed this room with a crude wooden door. Inside they keep a  Giant Centipede for some reason.

Special: Succed a +4 saving throw or get poisoned from the bite.


4. 
This room is filled with shit, literally. It's used as a toilet by the apes. If someone is crazy enough to search trough the room she can find 3 gold teeth in an old human jawbone. The teeth are worth 20 GP each.

Weird mushrooms grow everywhere in this damp room. Roll 3 times on the Mushroom Table to find out which ones.


6. 
Three apes are sleeping on the cave floor.

A steep slope leads upp to this room.

This room is filled with old gnarled human and animal bones. Among the bones stands an old coffin and a vase, they look really old. The coffin contains one silver dagger and a necklace worth 35 GP. The vase is filled with old dust, maybe burial ashes. There are some coins scattered over the floor 15 GP in total.


9. 
There's a ghoul chained to the wall, it must have been chained there for centuries, since before the apes made a home in the caves.  It attacks anyone that comes near.

AC: 6(13), HD: 1/6, Attack: 2 Claws or Bite, Damage: 1D4
Special: Immune to charm and sleep spells. Paralyzing touch, at touch save or get paralyzed 3D6 turns.


10. 
2 apes hide in little creases in the ceiling, quite hard to notice. They drop down on anyone passing underneath granting them a +2 sneak attack.

In the middle of this room the big murder ape alpha female sits gnawing on some bones along with 2 other apes.
The alpha female wears some jewelry that she has taken of victims during the years. Two necklaces worth 35 GP each and three silver rings worth 10 GP each.

Abnormal Murder Ape Alpha Female(1)
AC: 6(13), HD: 3/14, Attack: Claw or Bite, Damage: 1D6-1
Special: Loud Scream - save or get dazzled, -1 to attacks, for two rounds.


12.
In here is the missing farmer children. They where four to begin with and the apes eat one per day, so the amount of children still alive is depending on how fast the PC's managed to get there and save them. If all are dead the PC's just find their torn clothes and remains.
